The Role of Compassionate Support in Adoption Decisions
No mother should have to tackle whether or not to pursue adoption alone. It is one of the most difficult decisions she will ever make. It requires the support of others, sacrifice, and strength.
You choose adoption because you love your child and want to give them a better life, but it is that love that makes it so difficult. That’s why compassionate support is so important.
The caring team at Antioch Adoptions understands the struggle. We know what it takes to make an adoption plan for your child, and we’re here to provide the counsel, loving support, and help you need to make the right choice for your child.
If you’d like to chat about adoption and whether it’s the right choice for you, please contact us. We would truly love to hear from you.
Why Do Mothers Choose Adoption?
It doesn’t seem easy, does it? You carry a baby for nine months and then place them in another mother’s arms. But you’re looking ahead. You’re considering your child’s future and know that you cannot provide what they need anytime soon.
Here are some of the many reasons mothers consider placing their child for adoption:
- Lack of support from family or your partner.
- You’re already raising other children, and you do not have the resources or time to add one more.
- Lack of readiness or willingness to be a parent at this time.
- Nonexistent relationship with the birth father.
- Poor or abusive relationship with the birth father or your family.
What Type of Personal Assistance Does Antioch Provide?
Your adoption plan should never be a case number with connection points spread out over several people. You need to work closely with someone who hears your heart for your child and can guide you throughout the entire process and beyond.
At Antioch Adoptions, we’ll thoroughly explain the entire process up front. There won’t be any surprises. You will always know what comes next.
Here are a few of the personal services we provide you free of charge:
- Housing Referrals. Your safety and well-being are important to us. If you do not feel safe in your current housing, we’ll refer you to other housing.
- Mentoring. You must understand the decision you are making. It’s not a one-time event. This is a lifetime decision. We will counsel you without manipulation or coercion. This decision must be yours and yours alone.
- Adoption Planning. If you wish, you can choose the adoptive family that will raise your child and the amount of contact you wish to have with them in the future. We’ll review all three plans and discuss what’s best for you and your child.
- Delivery Coordination. We will be with you every step of the way. We’ll ensure you are well cared for in the hospital and that your wishes are respectfully followed.
- Legal Counsel. Should you choose to move forward with the adoption, you and your child will need legal representation.
- Post-Adoption Mentoring. Our support is ongoing after the placement of your child. We will walk alongside you with the one-on-one support you need.
